Photo Project due 10/28/09

Pg. 1:
This picture was meant to show inverses. The top is mirrored by its inverse. This was done by creating shapes, transforming the text to rotate vertically and horizontally and pressing the inverse button to get the inverse on one layer. It clearly shows that it was supposed to represent inverses hence the black background is on top and the white background is on bottom. The same goes for the red and blue text.
Pg. 2:
This image was meant to show gradients. There are multiple layers of different colored gradients above the flag to allow the text and Statue of Liberty to stand out. This works because the gradients are the main focus of the picture and stand out.
Pg. 3:
This image emphasizes mirror images. Most of the text is mirrored via the transform button. The butterflies were duplicated by the clone tool and then the layer was mirrored by the transform tool. This works because it the mirrored images are everywhere. The mirrors are more opaque than the originals to give some variety to the picture.
Pg. 4:
This image emphasizes the blur tool. The background is a gradient which was blurred to spread the effect from the foreground to the background. The text and the notes are blurred to show they are moving into the background. This picture is completely blurred; therefore it clearly emphasizes the point being made.
Pg. 5:
This image represents the linear aspect of art. The text is all in a straight line. Also, the text is boxy. This picture could have been better if the background had lines in it and the words meshed with the background, however the simplicity of this design makes it unique.

Youtube Review Due 10/27/2009
My New Haircut
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlU2KUhgMa8
This video is called "My new Hair". It was created directly for youtube. The plot is extremely simple in that the subject talks about his new haircut and the confidence it gives him. The shots are what make it unique. Most of the shots are close up shots. Some of them cut in on the subject and focus on his head (mainly on his hair). There are shots where the subject is not aware the camera is watching. These tended to be in-frame, out-of-frame. There is one scene that stands out. In this scene, the subject begins out of the frame and walks in and completely across the frame. A reflection shot is most commonly used in this video. The video begins with a reflection shot of the subject. Each shot duration is about 20 seconds. The reflection shots are the most creative. Since the video is about the subjects haircut, it fit to show the back of his head as well as his face in the reflection of the mirror so the audience could see who was talking. The stagnant shots where the subject spoke to the camera stood out as well. The subject was standing in front of the bar, so it framed his head nicely. There were too many close-up shots where the subject spoke directly to the camera. There should have been a larger variety of shots. To make this video better, more long range or wide range shots should be included.

Group Project 10/7/2009
The pictures had to emanate the word 'lifestyle'. The finish product turned out simple and clean, but there were difficulties on getting to the final product. No one agreed about what they thought should be the focus for the photos because lifestyle is such a broad word. It would have helped if everyone was on the same page. Another difficulty was that there were too many people around. The group met all together to take pictures, which made everything difficult because everyone had different inputs. We got over this and ended up finding great pictures to put together. It was a good learning experience and next time things will be more organized to eliminate some of the confusion.
